Asahi Suzuki
Originally hailing from Tokyo, Japan, Asahi came to the US to study at the University of North Texas in Denton.
With a deep knowledge and passion for music, Asahi soon established himself as one of the most sought after DJ’s on and off campus. Soon Dallas party promoters rushed to book him at the hottest clubs and bars in the city.
DJ Asahi went from commanding a campus party of 100 to commanding a Dallas nightclub of over 1,000 partygoers. He continued professionally spinning as a resident DJ at such notable spots as Hailey’s Club (Denton, TX), high end Japanese restaurant, Nobu, in the Crescent Hotel (Dallas, TX) and the Aura Lounge (Dallas, TX).
After acquiring a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Asahi continued his pursuit of a career in music and audio at the Dallas Sound Lab/MediaTech Institute in Texas. While attending school he found great interest in recording Jazz.
His talent as an engineer soon skyrocketed as a result of working with his friends from UNT and the world famous UNT One O’clock Jazz Band. His much talked about project, “Dancer,” with YT Little D, brought him a reputation as an engineer of note in Jazz circles.
In addition to his success with UNT, Asahi ran the sound and recorded live for the Brian Girley Group. The well-respected group consists of two-time Grammy award nominated pianist, Tailor Eigsti, and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, winner of two Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition awards.
Asahi’s talent continued to be recognized and soon he had the opportunity to work at Luminous Sound Studio in Dallas under Grammy award mixing engineer Chris Bell, on Erykah Badu’s album “New Amerykah Pt. 2”.
Most recently he engineered up-and-coming Jazz artist, Yoshi Matsubara’s, “Victory Dance,” which will be released digitally.
In addition to his engineering projects, Asahi has started producing his virtual band “Soular Light” and has begun recording indie artists on his original and re-mix projects. In 2010, Asahi became resident DJ for online radio, Dailysession.com, and opened for Ali Shaheed Muhammad(A Tribe Called Quest) and DJ Premier. He has been played at Rivington Hotel, Smyth Hotel, Grace Hotel, Bryant Park Hotel, Soriee, Green House, Libation, Le Poisson Rouge, some private events and so on.
He uses his deep knowledge of recording, sampling, editing, and mixing techniques to create his own sound that can only be described as “light in blue sky”, which can best be translated to, “sorrow covered by the warm lights of sunshine”.

高校時代に友人同士で組んだロック／パンクバンドのドラムを叩くことだけに明け暮れる日々を過ごす。
１８歳の時、 漠然と夢に描いていたアメリカに単独渡米。
テキサス州のノーステキサス大学に入学後、DJ仲間達に触発されターンテーブルに出会い、学生のハウスパーティーでDJの才能を開花。
彼が友人と共に始めたイベントには一晩１０００人以上を集客し、ダラス近郊で有名なクラブやレストランで専属DJとしても本格的にDJをするようになる。
DJのキャリアを積むのと平行しビジネスの学位を取得、さらなる音楽への追究から音響エンジニア学校へと入学する。
そこでの経験が彼をDJとして、ただ選曲をするという立場から、プロデューサー兼エンジニアとして、様々なジャンルのミュージシャンと親密に関わっていく立場へと成長させた。
現在は主にジャズを中心としたマルチジャンルを扱うエンジニアとして活躍している。
また、グラミー賞に２度ノミネートされている若手ピアニスト、テイラー・アゥグスティ(Taylor Eigsti)、セロニアスモンク国際ジャズコンクールで２度の優勝を手にし、ニューヨークタイムスにてレビューを受けたトランペット奏者、 アンブロース・アキンムシア(Ambrose Akinmusire)などが参加したブライアン・ガーリー グループ(Brian Girley Group)のライブでサウンドエンジニアを勤めたほか、数々のアーティストのエンジニアとしてグラミー賞を手にしてきたクリス・ベル(Chris Bell)のもと、全米が誇るＲ＆Ｂシンガーである、エリカ・バドゥ(Erykah Badu)の最新アルバムのプロジェクト制作に参加する。
２０１０年に舞台をNYに移し、現在はオンラインラジオのDailysessionにてのレギュラーDJやア・トライブ・コールド・クウェスト(A Tribe Called Quest) の アリ・シャヒード・ムハマド(Ali Shaheed Muhammad)、DJ プレミア(DJ Premier) のオープニングも務める。New YorkではRivington Hotel, Smyth Hotel, Grace Hotel, Bryant Park Hotel, Soriee, Green House, Libation, Le Poisson Rouge, やプライベートパーティーなど様々な空間でDJプレイを施している。Asahi Suzukiのバンドプロジェクト「Soular Light」としても音楽プロデュースも精力的に開始する。
